A trip to the Pioneer Woman's Frontier

To start off my Spring Break, my family went to Pawhuska, Oklahoma to visit the Pioneer Woman's lodge & mercantile. My Mom has watched her shows for a couple years and she has tried some of her recipes. We decided it would be fun to go tour where Ree films her cooking shows and stop at her mercantile for a little shopping and delicious food!

When we first arrived to Pawhuska, we went to the mercantile. The line to eat was long so we went upstairs to the bakery and grabbed some treats. They also have a coffee and candy bar! We each tried a different cupcake, and shared some knock you naked brownies. We also got some sticky buns to try for later. We then went to the lodge. The lodge was located in the middle of nowhere. You get your directions & free ticket at the mercantile, then drive out of the downtown area to their ranch. Fun fact: According to google, the Drummonds own over 400k acres and are the 23rd largest landowners in the country. That tells you it's going to take a while to get to the lodge lol. If I remember correctly, it took about 30 minutes to get to the lodge from the mercantile.

Inside the lodge, was her kitchen stocked with all her dishes, and her pantry. It was crazy how open everything was and you could literally see everything she used. There were at least 4 bedroom suites where they said her family stayed. Then in the back she had a huge prep kitchen, with a closet with all of her props! It included lots of dishes, even some that are part of her collection available at Walmart. It was a cool way to see everything that goes into the setting of a cooking show!

Next, we went back to her mercantile where we ate dinner. My family shared a queso for an appetizer. For the main course we got chicken parmesan, chicken fried steak, P.W. lasagna, and white spinach lasagna. For dessert we enjoyed the chocolate cake. All of the food was delicious and very generous portions!! The service was great and staff were really friendly too! It took us about 45 minutes in line to eat at about 4pm. If you go during an unpopular meal time the line may be shorter. After we ate, we looked around the store. Most of the items were handmade and local items, as well as some of her cookbooks and clothing! If you're ever needing a quick weekend trip idea, definitely give it a visit!
