Royal Caribbean Ports

I am so excited to write this post! Traveling is one of my absolute favorite things to do! This post is the second in my cruise series, and it is all about the ports! If you've ever been on a cruise, then you know there are so many options of ports. It''s hard to know which one to choose! It may seem scary, but sometimes it's okay to venture out on your own and trust the reviews of many frequent cruise goers. On this 7-day Royal Caribbean cruise, we had 3 port stops. 1. Roatan, Honduras The first port we went to was in Roatan, Honduras. We went to a place called Maya Key. We rode a little boat from the port straight to the island of Maya Key and it took about 5 minutes. When we got there, the staff showed us a mini tour. We were able to pick our own chairs for the day. There were chairs lined up all along the shoreline. There was a pier that when you walked to the end of, you could swim out to a drop off. The water started off at about 4 feet, then as you swim out you approached the drop off. It was actually quite scary because all of a sudden the water turned dark blue and you couldn't see anything underneath. But, it was a once in a lifetime kind of experience and I am glad I did it. for lunch, they served a traditional buffet that included fried fish, chicken, rice, beans, and plantains. We ate on a patio by the pool. Later in the day they had animal encounters, where we got to go in the cage of Capuchin monkeys. The monkeys jumped all over us to get to the food we had. There was a staff member in there the whole time, and he took pictures on my camera for us. It was a very unique experience! Overall the day was very fun and we had a big variety of things to do!

2. Costa Maya, Mexico The next port day was in Costa Maya, Mexico. The port itself was one of my favorites! The shopping was so nice and there were locals who were there dancing, and you could take pictures with them. We chose to go on a shore excursion that was not one of Royal Caribbean's. We had to walk behind all of the shopping, and meet at a little hut to be taken in a taxi to the resort called Maya Chan. This resort is owned by an American couple and they have very high ratings! From the moment we got there, the staff was really friendly and helpful. They showed us to our hut and chairs for the day. The resort was really quiet and quaint, they only accept up to about 50 people per day, as it is a day resort. The price included unlimited drinks(I got all non-alcoholic of course!). I tried almost every frozen drink on the menu, they were amazing! For lunch, there was a traditional taco bar with chicken, beef, pork, and all of the fixings. The food was outstanding! Unfortunately, the day before we arrived there was a small tropical storm that caused there to be a lot of seaweed on the shoreline. The water was dirty, but other than that, the resort was amazing! There was even a couple that got married while we were there!

3. Cozumel, Mexico Our last port day was in Cozumel, Mexico. This is one of my all-time favorite places that we go to every cruise! We took a taxi from the port to Chankanaab. It was about 20 minutes to get there. We went to Chankanaab National Park, but don't let the name fool you! This place has everything you could want for a tropical day! They have everything from a nature trail, swimming with dolphins, sea lion show, a lagoon, pool, and my favorite part is the snorkeling. You walk down steps to get to the water,. At first the water hits about your waist, but when you step off of the rock it gets over your head. The best part is you can swim around freely and see straight to the bottom, even at over 20 feet! It's an amazing feeling! One of my favorite things to do is to swim out to the floating platform. You can jump off of it, and can see straight down, even at a deep depth. Chankanaab is the perfect place to get your swimming in! I would 100% recommend going here!
