The Perfect Fall Day

I know i'm not the only person out there obsessed with fall..so I decided to share a post dedicated to a perfect fall day I had! Most people associate fall with pretty trees, coffee, sweaters, candles, and all things cozy. A great way to actually experience fall is to take a fall foliage drive! My Mom first started saying "fall foliage" and I had no idea what it meant. So if you are wondering, it means taking a drive to see the pretty leaves. Myself, brother, and parents started the day by driving to a little town called Leslie, Arkansas, which has a population of about 400. I don't know how people live in such a small town, but they do. The town of Leslie is an old historic town, with some original buildings in their downtown area. Just past that, is a little restaurant called The Skylark Cafe, in a turquoise little house. The inside is so charming!! It feels so cozy and "homey." They have an amazing selection of desserts in their case, the cakes are huge! I have been to this restaurant about three times now and have gotten the same dish every time. I order the Basil Parmesan grilled chicken sandwich, with their spinach cheese dip for the side. You must try their cheese dip if you go! The sandwich has chunks of grilled chicken, tossed in a delicious basil parmesan sauce, and provolone cheese, served on a chibatta bun. For dessert this time, I had a piece of dark chocolate and caramel cake, and my mom had a piece of their Reese's cake. They're so rich and decadent. After lunch we went to a Maplewood Cemetary in Harrison. It sounds like the most unlikely place to be a fall destination. However, the trees there are SO goregous. Each tree had it's own unique color, they were all full and vibrant. We got to take several pictures with our family, and some for my blog! After taking pictures and enjoying the scenery, we went even further north to the Buffalo River. The water level was pretty low, so you could walk on some rocks to get further out. The scenery there is always gorgeous! Next we went to Boxley Valley. We got to see some elk, one even crossed the road right in front of our car! Overall, it was a fabulous fall day, where we could enjoy all the beautiful scenery that Arkansas has to offer! If you're in Arkansas, I highly encourage you to take this drive and enjoy a perfect fall day! If you need specific locations, you can email me on my contact page.
